Brain injury is completely isolating img

brain injury is completely isolating

i wasn’t alone when i was hurt, but i am recovering alone.

people are devastated at first, you almost DIED. some stay checking in and asking questions after you’re awake and through the beginning. then, they stop asking because their lives are busy, and i’m not top of mind anymore. the second year, third, and every following anniversary, some longtime friends and the occasional straggler stick around, still showing interest. but it’s the ones who consistently stick around. they stay asking questions and ensuring everything is as good as possible. they’re the ones who matter.

the other ones that fall away and drop off… maybe never did.

raw resilience

Emily’s mission is twofold: firstly, to serve as a voice for those navigating life after a traumatic brain injury (TBI), offering both support and strategies for not just surviving, but thriving after. Secondly, she is dedicated to increasing understanding and awareness of neurodivergent brain processing, shining a light on the fact that not all of our brains function in the same way.
